Flight down was cramped and the exit rows were already taken. On the way back the same thing but there were no exit rows to try for.

SWA fills its flts, and that's ok, keeps them profitable w/o jiggling w/ fees.
I'm 5-8, and even at that compact size I find the 3-across very "intimate". So is United, which I flew to HI, but SWA's flts are shorter, and therefore easier to tolerate.

AirTran is the worst airline I've flown on, which isn't surprising given it's a low cost carrier. My flight from San Antonio to Atlanta was delayed for 2 hours, which left me rushing to catch my connecting flight to Minneapolis...which was also delayed 3 hours. Not because of weather, mind you, but because AirTran had failed to schedule a plane to pick us up. I've never felt more helpless or frustrated as a passenger. My returning flight from Minneapolis to San Antonio via Atlanta was also delayed 3-4 hours. This time the cabin crew was on another AirTran flight that had a delayed arrival, so we had to sit around and wait for them to show up. Needless to say, I'm never flying AirTran again.
