My wife and I recently booked a Delta flight (from their 800 number) from Sacramento to Atlanta for 4 days, then to Indianapolis for 4 days to celebrate my Mothers 78th birthday. To my shock, on each leg of the trip my wife and I were charged $24 per suitcase. Bottom line. An extra $150 in hidden charges were chalked up by the fine folks at Delta. Not to worry. This will never happen again. I will always ask a provider what the cost of checking one suitcase per person is. If all else fails, I will take Amtrak before I take Delta. Poor Delta should realize they reap what they sow. Sure they will get some short term gains by ripping their customers but in the long term their former customers will opt for providers like Southwest who charge nothing for one or two checked bags.
