This was one of those bookings that got mucked up, as I am a high mileage flier that normally gets a number of perks. However, the trip to Phili and CHS on the CJs was nice, clean, and together. The trip back through Charlotte was much poorer, with all the aggravations suffered from people bringing on too may carryons, too big, and il-prepared families. The regional carrier had ragged out planes with bits popping and cracking, and even a flight delay because the pilot seat malfunctioned. The guy was able to get a mechanic to manually adjust it for him.
I really wish the airlines would start charging for carryons instead of checked baggage. Typical case of a family with very young children dragging tons of stuff, and then expecting to switch seats with frequent fliers or choice seaters because they are worried about a short layover. Flights get delayed because of this stuff. It's not really US's fault, but I think if they started nailing these folks in the pocket, they would find the problems would settle. If they can't afford to check their bags, they can't afford to fly. Infants do not need 30 pampers, they need five for a flight.
Hope US Air tags the company doing their CHS to CLT regional to improve planes AND service.
