Used online checkin and boarding pass print for both portions of trip. Zone 4 boarding on both, how does one get something other than Zone 4??! Flight departing PDX loaded promptly and departed on time. Full plane. (mid day flight 1PM)Flight departing from SLC loaded promptly but was nearly 30 minutes late departing. Flight had several empty seats. (evening flight 8PM) In flight service standard for the airline industry these days; complimentary water, soft drinks, pretzels, nuts or cookie.

Despite missing our first flight (Southwest could trim its line wait), Southwest remains the smartest, most efficient, most affordable, and friendliest airline flying domestically.

Southwest has successfully carved a nitch for price-sensitive passengers. Their unusual boarding system works surprisingly well, especially if you pony up the $10 for their "EarlyBird Check-in". For a short-to-medium haul flight it's hard to beat
