As always our roundtrip flight with Hawaiian was a good one. All the airline cutbacks in recent years have been more noticeable with some airlines than others. We feel Hawaiian has done the best job of maintaining customer service of all the airlines we have traveled with.

The answer is no. There were at least two babies that cried the ENTIRE way into Kahului, but given the miserable spring we've had in Portland, nobody even cared because of where we were going.

The return had better seat space and it was a cleaner plane. The stewards were always pleasant and accommadating. Would recommend Hawaiian over any others.

It was a nice surprise that Hawaiian still provides complimentary meals, albeit farely simple, but tasty, fare. Loved having a direct flight to Maui. Everything was smooth and on time each way (OK, a little late on return departure, but we arrived at PDX right on time). Service was good - I like to stay really hydrated so appreciated the regular beverage service. I'd definitely go w/Hawaiian again.

service on the way there was better than the way back. On the way back they served a bunch of drinks and food right away then nothing for 3 1/2 hours...when I hit the flight attendant call button for some water nobody showed up. Other than that it wasn't bad. The seats and spacing wasn't bad for me, but somewhat uncomfortable for my 6'1" husband. Overall not a bad experience, we would fly with them again. All the staff was friendly.

Hawaiian is a great airline between the mainland and Maui - direct flights, friendly service, extra beverage services and water, and FREE HOT MEALS. While not as big as meals used to be, they are adequate and tasty.

It seems we all have to adapt to change, especially the airlines. Because people are so much heavier these days, it costs the airlines more in fuel to carry us so they have had to economize somewhere to keep fares affordable. Most noticeably they've done this by reducing ticketing agents and paper tickets (we now have electronic check in), charging for checked baggage and no longer serving meals or providing movies for long flights. The nice surprise on this flight came when we were given free maitais on our way to Hawaii!

Skip the pay-for cheeseburger. They ran out of the fruit plate. Flight was a half hour early! Noisy little kids!

We flew round trip for our vacation in Maui and had a great experience on Alaska as far as the flight - on time, early in to the airport both ways! Very nice Flight Attendants both directions. Absolutely not hassel eticket check in and boarding passes.
As for the food - the Chicken Pesto sandwich on the way over was good. The Angus Cheeseburger on the way back was horrible - dry, no condiments. Especially frustrating when they charge for it.
So bring your own food and you will do just fine.

Hawaiian Air definitely makes the spirit of Aloha come alive when you fly to Hawaii. On the return they are always so full of that spirit, one can not wait to return. The travel tutorials/music, the flowerd, Hawaiian shirts; just everything is perfect. The planes are CLEAN. The crew is well-groomed and always displays exemplary customer service and kind, friendly treatment of everyone.

Our flight from Portland to Maui was excellent with friendly flight attendants and several beverage services, one with free mai tais (for adults) close to the end of the flight.

Check in was fast and courteous. Free meal on flight as well as pillow and blanket. Flight Attendants were all great, and always gave us the entire can of pop, not just a small glass full. My favorite airline!!!!

Given that this is my seventh trip to Maui (6 of them within the last 12 years), the direct flight from Portland to Maui is usually pretty reliable, and without much drama. But the only two complaints I had was about the last round-trip to the islands, as I feel the "seat-side" manner of the flight attendants just isn't as good as it used to be, and the food choices for a long flight (unless you want to pay extra) are minimal. Now, I realize we fly coach, but about the staff's attitude? At least act like you're happy to be flying with the passengers!

I love the fact that they serve food, an actual meal, at no extra charge. In fact, they were the most inexpensive flight option, and it was a direct flight too.
They just need to make sure they stock the plane with enough of the beverage options they offer.

Scheduled this Alaska Air flight in Nov 09. Scheduled brother in-law and wife, two weeks before going, on Hawaiian for $150 less than our two tickets. We have taken this flight before and it is more fun that the Alaskan flight.
