This was a series of dreadful flights. Even the red eye from Phoenix to Atlanta 5/23 was packed to the rafters. I had to pay $60 to get reserved seats so I wouldn't have to sit in the middle of three on any of the four flight segments. The worst part of the trip was from Atlanta back to Phoenix, where a large couple got on literally three minutes from scheduled takeoff time and proceeded to fall asleep and lean on me in my tiny window seat. We were delayed taking off, probably so their luggage could be loaded. When I asked the flight attendant during the flight if I could be moved because I was experiencing severe claustrophobia she said no, unless I wanted to move to a middle seat elsewhere. A seat in business class was available but was not offered as an alternative. I was so desperate for room I was ready to stand up in the back of the plane, but then the pilot turned on the fasten seat belt sign. The lower price on AirTran is not worth the extreme discomfort.
