I flew US Airways from Sky Harbor Phoenix to DFW this past Thursday. The flight crew was very mean to the passengers. Throughout the flight they could be heard talking bad about passengers and calling htem out by seat number. This was where other passengers could hear it! We board the plane and taxi to the run way. After 20 minutes sitting on the runway the pilot announces that due to electrical malfunctions (the lights in the cabin were flickering) we would be returning to the gate to allow maintenance onboard. This seemed understandable. Once we returned to the gate they opened the plane doors. After 15 minutes both pilot exited the plane. I took this opportunity to grab my cell phone to send a text message to my husband who would be picking me up at the airport that we were delayed. A flight attendant immediately turned and yelled at me and said that I was not allowed to have my cell phone on. I asked what the issue was with me sending a text when we were parked, doors open and no pilots. She continued to berate me and said that it was federal law. I am a frequent business traveler and even have a flight scheduled for week after next. I am cancelling the flight, perfectly willing to pay a cancellation fee, and I will NEVER fly this airline (or any airline it merges with) ever again.

I don't like that airlines are charging for bags, meal, drink, tv,anything they can. I wish the purchase price showed the total including this tax, that tax, and extra room tax. Noone is being fooled into believing they are flying anywhere for 49.95!!!

We had a hard time getting seats - maybe because American oversold the flight. Despite buying tickets quite in advance we could not get assigned seats at time of purchase or anytime before check-in. Even when arriving early at the airport on the day of the flight, was only able to get seats at check-in because insisted on it after they tried to check us in without giving us seats Would not accept boarding pass without seats. And we were lucky at that, since the American Airline overbooked on both ends of the flight and had to offer "rewards" for people to give up their seats. Then, landing in DFW the plane's landing gear had problems. We circled for a while, and then landed in a far field. We waited for a maintenance crew (on a Sunday afternoon). Of course, they could have had a bus take us to the terminal while the emergency fire crew and others were at the plane, but that would have been too simple and maybe relieved the tension from those with tight connecting flight schedules. Eventually, the plane was able to creep along the runway and get to a terminal. Many ran for connecting flights; hope some made it.

I need a wheelchair, mostly because I can't walk the distances. Also, I have an injured shoulder. I had to pay $120 transport to and from the airport, $30 in tips to attendants, $20 to upgrade seats to aisle near front, and $50 for baggage (one bag). To the original ticket cost of $279 this represents a total cost of $499 for a two-hour trip from Phoenix to Dallas. I traveled on Wednesday going, Tuesday coming back. Yikes!

May 14 departing Phoenix at 0845 and on time! Nothing eventfull until about 1245 when the pilot advises the weather in DFW was bad and since AMerican chose not to fuel the plane in Phoenix, we did not have sufficient fuel for holding for weather and would have to land in Midland-Odessa and fuel the plan. On arrival the weather was not any better and they could not fuel due to thunderstorms and hail. About 1'30" later, while we were still sitting on the palne, we received our fuel. Then the pilot made an announcement that air traffic control would not respond and he would have to make a decision in another hour account it would be close to three hours at that point. About two hours into our premature stop, the flight attendants brought our some old stale granols bars and water for NO Charge!! Really refreshing but then at 2'43" minutes they announced we have received clearance! This was not American's fault but Mother Nature? Why did the pilot choose to pull up to the terminal and park away from the jetway? There certainly were not any inbound flights we would interfere with. But maybe his vision was blurred on arrival.
