We had a 3 1/2 hr delay at the start causing us to miss our connection. Apparently the crew needed to rest. This is understandable, but so do the passengers! We booked our flight well enough in advance, with only one layover and were to arrive in Buffalo at 3:46 P.M. We then had over 100 miles to drive home. We arived in Buffalo after 11:00 P.M., had to retieve our luggage, catch a shuttle to our car & then start the long drive home. This seems unreasonable to me, especially when we carefully planned our flight to arrive 7 1/2 hours earlier. I failed to mention that we had to RUN and I do mean RUN to our gate when we arrived in Washington. We arrived at an A gate and were departing at a C gate. This required several up and then down escalators and a train to get to the gate. We were departing along with another flight to Maine from the same gate at the same time! When we went down the very steep, wet metal steps we were herded toward the wrong plane! I can't imagine why the employee at the bottom of the stairs did not ask us which flight we needed! we were alerted by some very nice passengers that we were headed for the wrong flight. They saw us run up to the gate & go to the head of the line when it was announced that passengers leaving for Buffalo should come to the front of the line. The whole day was exhausting beginning with the 45 minute, seriously 45 minute, check in at the airport. And I don't mean the time we waited in line. I mean the time we spent at the counter with an employee that had absolutely no idea what she was doing! We were already assigned the new flights, she simply did not know how to assign our seats & make sure our luggage made it through all the connections. The employee next to her kept coming over to help and rolling her eyes behind her fellow employee's head! I'm sure if I booked the flights we were unwillingly assigned, the cost would have been much less. This is another thing that makes this all more aggravating. Once they have your money, they can do whatever they want to you. Heavan forbid that you want to change your own flight! You'll be penalized and charged additional fees. I think the airline should be held to these same standards. If they want to give you a much inferior schedule of flights from what you have chosen and paid for, they should pay you the same fees expected of us, the passengers. We made it home safe, but exhausted. That wasn't the plan. Thank you for the opportunity to vent. I guess we'll seriously consider driving the next time.

Efficient from booking to check-in to travel, and 2 bags fly free! Snacks used to be better. Staff were helpful (and often humorous, although that's diminished some lately. Sorry to say the same flight booked 3 months ahead for August is about double the price. However, non-stop service makes it worth it.
