I used miles to upgrade. It was a chore and required constant calls to secure the seat. Typical of US Air but one of the few that flies non-stop coast to coast.

Flight out to SF: Curb side check in easy ~ Security moved along quickly ~ Arrived 15 min early.
Flight back to phl: Bags a couple lbs over weight, nothing was mentioned. Arrived 10 min early. Bags didn't arrive in baggage area for almost an hour. But, they arrived!

The terminal site was changed within 1hr of departure, then plane declared unrepairable, so departed 2 hr late. Because of place change, they announced there was limited amounts of food for sale. Our traveling companion (double hip replacemnt) was to be in first class, but there were not enought rows to accommadate him. Just not a pleasant flying experience. I'd avoid US Air

The economy plus seats are well worth the additional cost. The flight attendants were wonderful and the captain gave everyone a 'heads up' as to the flight conditions before we were off the ground, so all the passengers could be prepared.

Getting use to no free food is one thing, but please, can airlines diversify the freebies. Peanuts, pretzels, or cookies, the same ones, over and over again. Oh, and only 1. Yikes, I am in the air over 6 hrs. Toss me an extra morsel. It's not like the packets are packed.
Otherwise, ok flite. Surprisingly such "mature" flite attendants.
