My two sons (12 and 6 yrs old) and I flew on Continental from Portland, OR to Philadelphia, PA. We had a layover in Houston and no issues during that trip. On the way back we flew on United with two layovers. First layover was in Houston again with no real issues and the second layover was in San Francisco before finally getting back to Portland. (The food in the San Fran airport was expensive!) Our assigned seats for the final flight were not together so I checked in at the desk two hours early and spoke with the "customer service" person there to let them know I was traveling with children to see if changes could be made. He never bothered doing anything about it. When we boarded my 6 yr old was supposed to be sitting in a window seat in row 10, I was seated in a window seat on the opposite side of the plane in row 9 and my 12 yr old was all the way back in row 17. Luckily, the mother of the child seated next to me was seated in the row where they put my 6 yr old so we were able to switch. The United attendants on the last two flights were rude to people and the planes were dirty. Not a happy Mama... I hope that the merger between Continental and United results in the United people getting some training!
