Flight from St. Maarten to Philadelphia was good.
Usual cramped seats in economy class.
Problem was the transfer in Philadelphia for
second leg of trip to Boston. Flight arrived on-time
but was forced to circle Phil. Airport because of another plane "not clearing runway". Revised landing time was 15-20 minutes later than original ETA.
Plane was forced to sit on tarmac as 10-12 flights
were taking off on runway which needed to be crossed
to taxi to gate. This delay was approximately 30-35
minutes. This left our traveling party 40-45 minutes to clear Customs and TSA for the flight to Boston. Baggage Claim delay of 25-30 minutes.
Arrived at gate around 8:40 PM for 8:45 flight.
Baggage handlers took our luggage but the flight
had already left.
Diverted to Us Airways Support Services and was informed that next flight to Boston was 10:45 PM and it was fully booked. SS informed us that while we were in flight from St. Maarten that we had rescheduled for a 2:15 PM flight the next day.
After some discussion we were booked for an 8:15 AM flight on 4/27, the next day. We were handed a list of local hotel/motels and waited standby unsuccessfully for the 10:45 PM flight to Boston.
Very shoddy customer service by US Airways.
