I have flown other airlines and had a comfortable ride. Continental tries to stuff their planes and no one has a anything near a decent experience. Check your booking agent and make sure you don't end up on a Continental flight.

Do not fly SOuthwest Airlines out of Newark International Airport. There are nothing but long delays and terrible cistomer service. To quote their supervisor on site >"This happens regularly and there's really nothing I can do for you." Our flight kept getting delayed due to "Air Traffic Control Issues". According to other SW employees in Newark, SW doesn't play nice with the other airlines and their flights are purposely delayed by air traffic control and the airline knows this and chooses to do nothing about it. We were stuck at the airport for over 10 hours without being offered hotel accomodations or meal vouchers. They finally came around and gave us a 2oz bag of pretzels. The customer service that Southwest advertises constantly on the TV spots was nowhere to be found. In fact, the reps couldn't have cared less about the passengers situation. I overheard two of them jokingly saying their shift ended soon so at least they'll sleep in a bed tonight. I'm sure others have had good experiences with SW in other locations, but PLEASE do not use SW if you are flying out of or into Newark.

My first time on Southwest. The web site had web-only deals, so that was good. Online check-in was simple. Plenty of snacks and soft drinks, including refills. They were NOT stingy at all. Captain stayed in touch with information on flight time, altitude, turbulence, etc. All in all, a great experience.

Our flight from Newark to Las Vegas (and back) can be compared to a giant bus in the sky. It's cramped, you have to bring or buy your own food and the farthest thing from luxury. We sat towards the back of the plane and on our outbound flight by the time the food cart got to us they were out of the breakfast sandwiches! If they're going to make you buy your won food the least they can do is have enough for everyone. On the way home we were smarter and bought a sandwich in the terminal and brought it onboard with us. The only thing you get for free is non-alcoholic drinks and a couple of movies. And it's amazing how many seats they can squeeze into these planes, it's really like you are a sardine.

Had a broken foot at time of flight and notified AA. They gave me excellent service with wheel chairs, early boarding and the like. Would have missed the connection if I had had to hobble on my own.

They moved my seat to a bulkhead one but this was a bad move as I was stepped on and had bags dropped on the broken foot. The seat itself was very uncomfortable --- the cushion was thin and worn out.

Had a carry on but was unable to fit it in the overhead as it was so crowded. They were nice enough not to charge me to check it at the gate.

I was thrilled to be upgraded to First Class. I had a lot of clothing to transport, so I called as soon as I got the upgrade notification to check how many bags I'd be allowed to check for free. I'm the lowest category of Elite, and had purchased the ticket with my Continental Chase MC. The agent on the phone said "three," then checked again to verify it when I asked "Is that for ALL Elite passengers?"

At the airport the curbside check-in guy said he'd have to charge me $100 for my third bag. Lots of walking, pleading, wasted time, hysteria, angst, and tears finally produced a "one-time courtesy override" that gave the OK to the third bag.

We were more than an hour late taking off. The flight attendants, who normally take dinner orders during taxiing, never did. Nor did they take pre-flight drink orders or pass out the almonds until we were well aloft. At dinner I was asked if I wanted the one ravioli that was left, or the fried shrimp, and I wasn't even in the last row of seats. I chose the shrimp, and it was a gooey mess and unbearably oversalted. My seatmate, who elected the ravioli, said it was fair.

During the rest of the flight, the crew handling First Class were busy chatting non-stop. Our drinks and coffee cups sat for hours without being cleared. When I walked to the very back of the plane, that crew was locked up behind a closed curtain, chatting away. The only bright spot was that one of the attendants from the front came back to get a large water bottle to fashion a hot water pad for one of the passengers, and she offered to do one for me, too.

While the flight was generally smooth (after the first half hour of turbulence), and the seats were very comfortable, I've never experienced such a complete lack of service and so much indifference on the part of a flight crew.

Continental/United merger will stink for consumers

Boy, as a family we have flown on Continental five times in the last few years. November 2010 was the first time since the merger. Because of the $23 for checked bags, most people brought two carry ons and there was no room in overhead bins. The flight attendants spent more time selling food and beverages so service was slower. People all around brought all kinds of food and plane seemed to be one big picnic area. I don't see how airlines will save money in long run with higher clean up cost/time and people getting pissed off because the guy next to you has some stinky garlic/curry meal. I don't know, the whole "New United/Continental" seemed to stink and I don't see it getting better.

We sat in the back of the plane and there was no food left by the time they got to us. We were starving by the time we landed. On the return trip we brought food onto the plane - good thing we did because again there was no food. BTW, of course nothing is free (even the pretzels) but we would not have minded paying if there were anything available.

Last flew American in 1992 and vowed to never fly them again. Had to change my mind when their flight was $200 cheaper than Continental. Had broken my foot and requested disability assistance. Was treated like royalty by the wheelchair attendants at the 3 airports involved. Those people deserve a raise and should be tipped well. Am looking forward to my next flight on American in April but now know to bring lots of snacks for the flights.

The seats and aisle way seem to be getting smaller and smaller. They give you free headphones, but then you have to pay for direct tv. If you want anything to eat you have to pay, except for a small bag of pretzels and a soft drink. I suprised they dont charge you for using the restroom. (oh don't want to give them any ideas)

    Not a pleasurable experience.

We left Newark one hour late (due to a maintenance need) but arrived on time in Las Vegas. Just think if we would have left on time how much earlier we would have arrived. The plane was full. Most people had carry-on luggage (multiple pieces). I guess they didn't want the expense of checking a bag. Flight was smooth going and the staff was very friendly.
