This fare only includes one small "personal item" ...morecarry-on that does not exceed 16x14x12 inches. Larger carry-on or checked baggage require an additional charge. To get this fare, you must also accept a Spirit assigned seat at check-in and print your boarding pass at home or at an airport kiosk. Choosing a specific seat or using a human airport agent requires additional charges. This fare includes Spirit.com's passenger usage fee and "unintended consequences of D.O.T. regulations fee." These fees range between $18-$38 and can be avoided by booking at an airport counter.
All mandatory taxes/fees are included in the price. Tax-inclusive fare may be a few dollars higher or lower depending on the airport you connect through, if any. Baggage fees, if applicable, and other optional fees are not included.

We chose Southwest mainly to avoid irritating luggage charges, but found the 2 and 3 stops irritating. Additional the cattle drive seating was the same. We did not learn of their offer of preferred seating for $10 until too late.
The staff were pleasant and arrivals on time or early.

outbound - no problems. fast check-in curbside, flight was out on time and early arrival.
return - gate change and short delay...handled well by airline and trip home was fast!

Since the merger of Northwest AIrlines and Delta, the customer service has really gone down. On my recent trip, the flight was oversold ( as most of thier flights are these days ) and when booking the flight a middle seat was the only available seating option. It didn't even show premium seating options. Online checkin 24 hours prior still showed the flight booked to the eyeballs. Upon arrival to the airport, we (other inquiring customers) were told we had to wait until 1 hour before the flight before we could speak to a gate representative-ok, --we understand. BUT a few minutes BEFORE the prescibed hour, 3 Delta employees walked to the counter to get thier seats changed-AHEAD OF PAYING CUSTOMERS. In full view of those of us who waited patiently in line, only to be told ( after getting the employees thier preferred seating- one even in first class) that there were no available window or aisle seating. I will give them some credit for somewhat checking bag sizes as customers boarded the plane, but it was haphazard and some individuals carried on WAY more than the 1 piece + personal item, while others were asked to gate check thier bag. All I want to see as a consumer is that the "rules" apply to all wh fly- just not the ones they may happen to "catch"--It's also the flyers who try to bring everything on the plane so they won't pay for baggage--there has to be a better system.
