The flight was delayed leaving Cancun because our terminal was being used by an earlier delayed flight. We then left late from Cancun and had to go through customs in FLL. Although our group of 12 passengers travelling together explained to the airport staff at the passport checkpoint and luggage pickup area that our flight was almost due to take off, the airport staff assured us that a flight would not take off with so many of us connecting from another flight. THEY LIED. Not only did the plane close it's doors in front of us as we got to the gate, they told us that it was too late - they had given our seats away to stand-by passengers and there was nothing they could do for the 12 of us.

We proceeded to the Spirit check-in counter, where the entire staff hid behind closed doors so as not to face us at 10PM. They sent out one representative who told us "good luck finding a place to sleep tonight; come back in the morning and see if you can get on a flight, but there were no guarantees". Not only were there no guarantees, there were NO VOUCHERS FOR FOOD, NO WATER, NO AIRPORT SHUTTLES TO HOTELS, NO HOTEL ROOMS ---NOTHING, BUT COCKROACHES AND AIRPOT SEATS BY A DOOR THAT OPENED AND CLOSED TO THE OUTSIDE ALL NIGHT. We had to take turns sleeping so as not to get robbed, or bitten by bugs crawling everywhere. It completely ruined our weeks-worth of vacationing. SPIRIT OFFERED NOTHING TO COMPENSATE FOR OUR AGGRAVATION. Also, if you try to locate contact information for the exectuvies at Spirit, you won't find any phone numbers or email contact information. They probably don't exeist based on the unbprofessional experiences we had with the FLL airport staff. I'LL NEVER FLY SPIRIT AGAIN, NOR WILL ANYONE IN MY FAMILY OR GROUP OF FRIENDS.
