$25 to check a bag (not an extra bag - that's more - just 1 bag for $25), and only free soft drinks. No peanuts, chips, no nothing. Snacks offered for purchase. That's right - cross country, and not so much as a free nut. I think that's pretty sad.

Never traveled Virgin America but was pleasantly surprised In flight movies/tv/ordering food and drinks via credit card from your seat. Service excellent. Only problem "paying for luggage".

I usually fly JetBlue for domestic flights. This was my first time flying Virgin and I really enjoyed the lighting inside the plane! It was a more fun atmosphere than JetBlue, though I was missing the Terra Blue chips and snacks that JetBlue provides for free. The crew is a little more laissez-faire on Virgin, which I don't mind. I'd fly again with them, for sure.

Usually fly Jet Blue where seat spacing is human. Delta crams as many seats as they can into their planes and to say it is uncomfortable is an understatement. Will avoid them even if they are cheaper.

I was happy with the flight attendants they helped the passengers secure the overhead luggage and made sure it was secure before take off. The opposite of our flight to JFK on American. The seats were more comfortable and there was a personal television I would definitely fly Jet Blue again. The captain made a perfect touchdown also. Very happy!

I have heard good things about VA. This is my first time. But I was quite disappointed. The cabin has a cheesy pink and purple hue; food was expensive and you have to order on the screen; we are even charged for earphone. No pillow/throw. Service was minimal. The attendants were not personable at all. Only 2 bathrooms for all classes except the 2 rows of first class (they have their 2 bathrooms in the front). Oh, please give me teabags next time (if there's a next time), your loose tea and the barely hot water was rediculous. Sorry, really not impressed.

The food was the star. JFK Worldport is what it is so check in was lack luster. The seat was good, comfortable, but first row... needed to cradle a little bit more.

The airline has the nerve to charge for bags, but the plane is cramped, you have to buy food at the airport, (which I did)because all you get is drinks and peanuts with cookies. At least use the money from the bags to feed the passengers, instead of charging them 10 dollars for a sandwich and chips. (Which is a rip off and unfair for people with children who will get hungry on a flight). Better yet, make the planes roomy again.

no more comp meals for economy. Very sad, especially on a 6 hour flight. They have enough $$ from checked in luggage to feed us!!

It was my first trip to california and the cheapest airfare (which was not cheap) was through Virgin America. When we boarded, there were purple and pink neon lights, which gave me this sense of being in a swanky lounge. Each seat had individual touch screens that allowed us to watch tv, order food (free and otherwise), listen to music. I thought it was really nice. The experiences with the stewardesses were different on each flight. The departure flight crew gave cans of juice/soda, while the returning flight crew gave little cups. Other than the 3 nonstop-screaming babies on the 5hr flight (not Virgin's fault, but a huge detractor in the experience), flying on Virgin was overall positive.

I am 6 feet tall, and normall a flight cross country means I have to sit like a pretzel for 6 hours. Not so with Virgin America. I had plenty of leg room (Until the passanger in front of me put her seat back, but it was still better than any other airline I had been on) and the in flight service was awesome! Even though they don't serve the customary free peanuts and cookies (not really a fan of that stuff anyway)I just bought some snacks for the flight and did just fine. Any other food you want to eat you have to buy on the plane. This was not a problem for me. If you were thirsty after the first round of beverages were served, all you had to do was order it by selecting it from the t.v. moniter and a few minutes later you have whatever you ordered. It was SO nice! I will fly with Virgin America again.

Extra leg room well worth the extra fee, especially on a cross country flight. And they serve Dunkin Donuts coffee!

Will be landing in JFK in a few hours. Flying has become such a depressing ordeal. Besides the fact that our flight was delayed for over 2 1/2 hours due to engine trouble (I'm assuming that was the smart, safe thing to do) the flight cabin is a miserable place. Right now it's freezing cold and blankets and pillows are for sale in "steerage". So I guess I'm going to shiver my way to JFK. No free snacks. Knees close to your chest. And a fairly absent staff. All this for a round trip of $500 +.

check in curbside for a few bucks was fabulous. I don't know why anyone would get on the line inside. The attendant was sympathetic to my concerns about switching airlines at Las Vegas and gave me a good seat from which I could get off the plane quickly. Cockpit kept us updated on departure. The flight attendants were very attentive. Free stuff was good and I hardly noticed the time pass. Only one complaint. The flight attendants knew nothing about the Las Vegas airport and couldn't even provide info about the gate we arrived at.

Arrived at the airport to learn that the flight had been delayed by 3 hours. The Delta website did not show the update - in fact the flight status was never updated, so that well after flight time the site still showed an on-time departure. I did get phone alerts though. No explanation. Paid for access to Sky Club, which they shut down at 9pm (flight further delayed now from 7pm to 11:30pm)- made everyone move to another Sky Club in a different terminal (with the trek back to the gate for the flight). No apologies, no comps of food or drink, finally arrived in SF at 4:30 a.m. Blamed the weather and no effort was made to provide explanation or comfort to the displaced passengers.

So excited to try Virgin Atlantic, I even paid a little more but was overall disappointed, not because it was bad, just because it was average and I expected more. It seems to have potential, like it was a good idea on paper, but it never translated to reality. Like the Austin Powers theme - black leather seats with white plastic backing line a corridor that has neon purple lights. Kinda cool or kinda like my niece's prom limo. Groovy Austin Powers-esque (sorry, I can't think of anything else to compare the V.A. theme to) music in the bathroom, but it all stops there. If you're trying to be different and run a maverick airline, like I would venture Richard Branson wanted to do, then go all the way. Train the flight attendants to actually serve beverages and be of service (not 1 beverage on the outgoing flight!). At the risk of sounding sexist (and I'm a woman) put the flight attendants in groovier garb - I'm thinking a throwback on the 60's flight attendants. Dress/skirt and some knee-high white go-go boots. Make the men wear dapper little form fitting pin-striped suits with funky (My 3 Sons) shoes. Like what all the hipsters in Tokyo are wearing. You see where I'm going with this. Vanity and appearances aside, clean the bathrooms, because they stunk, give us 1 free movie at least, and finish installing the entertainment system because it's tiresome flipping to all these channels that read "Not available yet. Try again later." Really? How long have you been flying? Finally, the most important aspect of a flight is arriving safe, intact, and in 1 piece - which I clearly did. That being key, hey, it was a great flight!
