the plane was packed and stuffy for all five hours - way too hot! uncomfortably so. usually once in the air it gets reasonable or even cool, but not this time.

My flight was fine and the service was fine, but I do wish there was less bustle on late night flights. My flight was scheduled to depart at 8pm (we didn't leave the ground until after 10pm, thank you JFK runway repairs), so the attendant crew couldn't go about their snacking and watering business until close to 11pm. The carts and their wares are pretty obvious, so I wish the attendants didn't feel it necessary to announce them loudly over the intercom. We'll see you bustling down the aisle - we get it.
I also wish the PA system were better adjusted to the in-seat earphone jack. No matter what volume you have your jack set to, when the PA comes on, it's always at a blast - how does that happen? The captain isn't shouting over the cabin PA, so how is it possible that it comes across so loud on the in-seat earphone jack? Magic. I'll note the PA problem isn't unique to Delta planes.
Otherwise, liking Delta. Clean bathrooms, personal tvs, no carry-on bag fees, and direct flights from Portland to NYC.

Except for food to purchase there was not one thing offered except beverages. The plane had been changed so that the seat configuration put us in the middle section and I have claustrophobia. The plane as always was packed full so no choice to move. The layover was so short there wasn't enough time to get something to eat and the two flights combined were 7+ hours. The air circulation was cold and even though it was evening one couldn't get a pillow or blanket w/o paying for them.
Bottom line...American Airlines STINK.

Delayed a few hours due to, first, plane traffic (?), then the "ramp" at JFK closing for a while due to lightening, then taxi-ing in the lineup caused by said ramp closure.
BUT - the crew on board was stellar, extremely friendly and kept us very well informed of our progression in the taxi line. One of the best crews I've seen.

Other than more than usual turbulence enroute to Portland, it was a great flight both ways. Flight attendents were very attentive, helpful and friendly. JetBlue has the most legroom even in coach. And one of the two airlines that doesn't charge to check a bag. Check in and security were quick and painless. I love flying JetBlue and wished they flew out of more airports and flew to more locations. Would highly recommend!

I highly recommend Jet Blue's non-stop transcontinental flights between JFK and PDX. Jet Blue's new JFK terminal (including security) was easy, and nearly stress-free, to check into; the gate area was comfortable and the agent kind; the aircraft was clean and the regular economy seats more comfortable than those of any other airline on the route; the cabin crew was helpful throughout the flight; and our checked baggage (no fee!) arrived within a few minutes of our arrival at baggage claim.
