The Delta outbound flight was understandably full, with the royal wedding just around the corner, but good. Check-in was a breeze even though they told me the wrong terminal. However, the return flight was a nightmare, no working televisions in 60 percent of the seats, and absolutely disgusting dinner followed by pizza and ice cream??? And why oh why could I not pick my seats when the plane was only 1/4 to 1/3 full

although it snowed heavily at JFK, American took off on time with a smooth flight and well attended. On board entertainment was excellent with a good choice of current movies to watch

The flight was good but how hard is it to find a good seat??? Apparently, very!!!

After spending 10 minutes w/agent looking for seats together but was not able to....got onboard and the flight was half empty. We had a row of 3 seats for the two of us. Something was very wrong with this agent.... He either did not want to put us together or did not know how to find seats.....

But, flight was good (food awful).

We are not big or tall people but found the seating space narrow and with hardly any leg room on flight from NYC to London and return. Premium economy seating would have been fine but expensive.

Food was terrible, alcoholic drinks were available - maybe - if someone came around. TV's in the back of each seat. During the departure flight neither mine nor my husband's were not working. We were told that they needed to be reset from the front and that would be done but it never happened. On the return flight we were in luck and they worked fine. We did have reserved seats but they were changed us to the center row of four people....

I guess the important thing was that Virgin was on time and got us there safely.

For an airline that runs a LOT of International routes, the seat space is absolutely HORRIBLE! Obviously they are trying to get everyone to upgrade to 1 of 3 other classes, but their upgrade fees are insane. It will usually cost you at least twice your original fare simply to get to the next level, premium economy, which gets you at least a somewhat reasonable amount of space. On the flight we took out the premium economy section had only about 1/4 of the seats filled and the business section was about the same. If they priced their upgrades at all reasonably customers would grab up those seats. Also, the counter people are just simply RUDE. I started to go up to the counter at our departure gate, and before I even got there the male agent behind the gate stated loudly, "TAKE A SEAT, WE AREN'T OPEN YET" No, please, no I can help you in a few minutes, no NOTHING but rudeness. If there is anyway to avoid using the airline in the future we will certainly do everything we can to use another airline. Just TERRIBLE!!

Not much to say except that BA's new First seats are more comfy than ever and it's the closest to heaven I'll ever get. The strike was happening so the meal service wasn't the typical First experience but otherwise a perfect flight.

Seats seemed the smallest I have ever had, with the least leg room I have ever experienced. Very hard to move around on such a long flight.

JFK-LHR round trip during Memorial Day weekend. Flight was at capacity yet left on time. Professional long-haul flight crew was as attentive as can be expected. Food was surprisingly edible.

I fly from NY to LHR (London, Heathrow) every 6 - 8 weeks (sometimes a bit more frequently than that)and have been traveling on Virgin Atlantic in this fashion since 2001 essentially. I continue to fly with Virgin because they rarely disappoint. They've been dependable, courteous, have frequent service in this market and are dependably competitive rate wise. Since my journeys usually entail a short turn-around period (I usually go for a long weekend - 3 days),reliability is a key factor. They have measured up and then some on this route. Only once in 9 years have they canceled my flight (return to U.S.) and that was weather related in February when NY was snowbound and not a single flight on any carrier flew that day. They added a flight the following day and we were on our way. Beside the more than palatable meal service in-flight, I can always look forward to my ice-cream snack mid flight to enjoy with my movie selection on their very broad spectrum entertainment system. Believe me, if I wasn't satisfied I'd mutiny and throw my money at another carrier. Flying this often can be a drag, especially when the usual 6-8 hour journey becomes 10 hours as it did on my return yesterday as flights are all being re-routed in strange ways to avoid the volcanic ash clouds produced by Iceland's best! Even my 10 hour trip home yesterday was bearable - Granted, I'd like to just be "beamed" to my destinations at this point, but since I can't, I'll stick with Virgin! And, by the way, sometimes I upgrade and travel in premium economy, where you'll be treated royally.
