In the last few years, my husband and I have flown frequently. I usually shop for "the deals," so we don't fly on a particular airline regularly. We haven't flown on American in quite some time, probably more than five years. We have traveled recently on Delta, Air Tran, and United. I will not fly American again. The flight attendants were horribly rude. The flights were delayed. No peanuts or any snack -- the other airlines actually did pass out a snack or two, Delta even still passes out blankets!

JetBlue once again proves itself the best airline. On time, friendly staff, competitive pricing and those great big seats all add up to a great flying experience.

Check in was a nightmare. Hundreds of people waiting to check in at the Cancun airport. The staff was pleasant enough but the wait was annoying and many people were complaining because of the long waits. We arrived at the airport more than 2 hours in advance, we would have missed our flight if the staff hadn't fast tracked us right before our flight was expected to leave. The flight was fine, the service was fine including the normal drinks and everything else was an additional expense. The pilot greeted us over the PA system and warned us to obey the flight attendants which I thought came across a little harsh. We arrived on time and left on time which was an improvement over previous flights on American.

The flights were ontime and went off without a hitch. Two things bothered me: 1. Oversized carry-ons. We waited at least 5 minutes while a woman attempted to shove a very large stuffed duffel bag into the overhead. Attendants should force passengers to gate check over-sized carry-ons. 2. Random passengers asked flight crew if they could have seats reassigned (didn't want center and window seat). They were moved up to first class! Not fair. Then others complained as well and were allowed to move as well. I wish I were a "squeeky wheel".

Flight out of JFK at 0530 on a Sunday and the ground crew was less than happy. Minimal interaction, less than helpful, all we cared about was getting to our destination. The plane crew had a few issues, didn't like the the way attendants spoke to my sons. Additional grumps. Flight home was a direct worked out perfectly. Minimal interaction with the crew. My family expects professional personal it just seemed like it was the grump run to Cancun. A smile goes a long way. American needs to up its game.
