My flight from Nashville to LaGuardia was scheduled for 1:05 PM on Wednesday, 12/1/2010. Unfortunately, there were storm conditions in the Northeast and the flight was delayed for nearly 4 hours. 2 hrs. before departure I received a call from NY stating that there were 2 1/2 hour delays at LaGuardia. Calls to AA assured us that the flight was on time. Upon arrival at BNA more assurances were given regarding timely departure. Then one half hour before boarding they announced a 45 minute delay. A half hour later they announced a 3 1/2 hour delay. Certainly they knew there were major delays as earlier flights were either delayed or canceled. My time could have been better spent with my grandchildren rather than in an airport. This is not the first time that AA has misled its passengers. A few years back my wife experienced a 5 hour delay at LaGuardia yet up until 20 minutes before boarding the screen showed the flight was on time. Turned out that the plane was still in Baltimore.
Why can't AA be honest about their delays so that their passengers can plan for the delays.

The flights to and from New York were on time and superb. The seat on the forward leg of the trip was quite comfortable, while on the return leg, the seat was in the bulkhead area of the aircraft.
However, I am quite satisfied with the service provided on both legs of the trip.

The flight home was terrible. First, it was delayed for over an hour but the attendants did not tell anyone over the speaker system. It was just flashed onto the screen. Then once we boarded, we sat on the runway for two hours without drinks, air, or any news. The three news briefs said "We are tenth on the runway to leave," "we've been delayed due to weather," and "We are not sure if we will be able to get out tonight." I would have rather done without the vague news briefs than those short phrases.
