I fly this route approx 10 times a year for a graduate program in S.F. The trip is a lot easier when its taken as a direct flight. The weather in S.F.(fog-day and night) often causes planes out of SFO to depart late to meet connecting flights and at times can delay departure from the connection as the airport has to wait to give clearence for planes to take off from the connections to depart for S.F. I would advise travel to the bay after morning fog clears and before nightfall to avoid delays with fog. I have been told I should fly into Oakland and take the train into S.F. My hotel stay for class is next to SFO so I stick with flying into SFO for easy access. My only request of the airline is to offer more direct flights returning from SFO to Mem.
