We were returning from Madison to Los Angeles, via Chicago on February 21. Flight 5022 from Madison to Chicago was delayed twice. An overhead message announced the plane had left the gate at Chicago and should arrive in Madison soon. It showed we would depart Madison at 5:15PM. A long line had formed in front of the AA employee and out of curiosity I joined them. One of the passengers told me the flight was cancelled, they had an announcement from their phones. There was no overhead announcement. The AA employee gave no explanation why. There were other flights leaving and landing. We had to fly out the next day. I called AA later--they had no explanation regarding cancellation.
