American Airlines 265 from Los Angeles (LAX) to Kauai (LIH) is via an older model 757. Two relatively recent movies were provided on overhead CRT monitors (not LCD). The power ports (the same as an automobile cigarette lighter power port) are only provided on some of the seats, and some of the power ports did not work. The flight attendants were very nice and very professional.

I've noticed some previous reviews that state no information was shown on the Hawaiian destination. Hawaiian Airlines has their flight schedule down to a science. Los Angeles to Honolulu is roughly 5 hours: they space out video entertainment, refreshments, lunch meal (free), inflight movie, then refreshments, then landing. Music is Hawaiian, you really feel like you are going to Hawaii! Honolulu to Lihue: short flight, still had time for staff to pass out small containers of guava juice, collect the cups and you are on the ground! Our seats on LAX-HNL were on the side with 2 seats; great for couples! We love Hawaiian Airlines!

Our Flight From Los Angeles to Kauai / Hawaii was uneventful, which is good. Easy check in at the Kiosk using my "Android" phone, short lines at security, Flight Crew was polite and helpful, smooth flight. The seats were typical for Delta, nothing great yet nothing bad. Leg space was average. Only drawback and suggestion . . . on Flights to Hawaii why can't the airlines, not just Delta, provide entertainment that informs us about our destination instead of all the Prime Time reruns. Most people flying to the Hawaiian Islands are on Vacation, so why can't the airlines start off the trip with Hawaiian Music and video's about the islands as an option. Hawaiian Airlines does, and it does make a difference.

Flight had 20 empty seats which allowed myself and my partner to have a row to our selves which made all the difference on the way there. Delta showed a movie and they had a great menu of items to purchase to eat. Flight attendant were very friendly on the way there. They even gave us a bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary. We did ask at all levels for an upgrade as the first class section was not full. We were denied each time. Guess we are not important or rich enough. All in all we had a great flight going, but our flight home was full and we could not get seat assignments until the day of the flight and had to sit across from each other. The overnight flight was very tough and we are still recouping from lack of sleep. I would fly Delta again.

Make sure you allow plenty of time for airport lines from checking in your bags to lining up to get into the 2 security lines you have to go through before walking to your gate.

The self check-in did not save time (pain in the b#$*); would not scan boarding pass as it instructs; frustrating. The real person was great; polite, helpful, friendly and efficient (aloha spirit from at least one person). Rated check-in as "good" only because of her, otherwise not so good. At least the plane was not full, a rare sight for me lately. One movie on a 5 hour flight, that was it for entertainment. Baggage pick-up was fastest in memory.

Seats are too small and too close together. Having said that, the staff was fairly friendly and the flight was fairly smooth. IT was almost a totally filled flight both ways so no place to spread out even on the red eye return. Food is TERRIBLE - bring your own and save yourself some aggravation!!!

From check-in to in-flight service...seems like employees not happy to be there. The older flight attendant's (which is what you get going to Hawaii) always seem to have a chip on their shoulder. I also don't understand how airlines are getting away with the baggage fees on code-share flights. I bought my ticket from US Airway which has a 1-bag free policy. When I show up and am ticketed on United, which has a $25/bag fee I must pay the fee. That is just BS.

What is there really to rate with today's flying? There is nothing special that the airlines do to make anything better. In fact, it was interesting that the attendant at the end of the flight announcements made the comment, " Please leave the blankets and pillows we provide to help us keep costs down." I will give them credit for clean blankets on the seat, but they never mentioned the availability of pillows. I am an infrequent flyer, and to be honest, assumed that was something else cut from airline service. It would have been nice if the attendant, seeing that none of my family was sleeping, would have offered. We landed at 5am! We all were disappointed at that!

Service was friendly and professional. Miss the days of food service at no additional charge. Wider seats would be welcome.
