I made my reservations in July for the Dec flight. At that time I made seat selections. Three days prior to leaving I checked my seat arrangements only to find out they had been changed. Phone personnel insisted they could not be changed to accommodate me. Despite that I am a special needs person requesting wheelchairs at each facility there was no effort whatsoever to change my seats. This made for a very difficult entry into and out of the plane.
The seats in the small aircraft from Houston to Columbia could not have been constructed to fit any human. Although I am large I observed very slim Asian people having difficulty fitting into these tiny spaces.
It was nice to be given more than one beverage per flight which definitely curtailed the dehydration.
I specifically flew a southern route, which meant my choice was Continental, so that I would not be having weather problems. There was a 2 hour scheduled layover yet they added another 3 hours to that so they could find a pilot to fly the plane. While I was waiting I spoke to many people on standby who had been bumped from previous flights and now had spent 3 days in the airport with no guarantee of flight for another 2 days. How are the airlines allowed to overbook, under estimate the number of pilots needed and inconvenience all of their customers? No other business I know could give this type of service and stay in business. It was a very difficult experience causing me to reevaluate my carrier of choice.
