Spirit seems like such a great deal, however, there are many hidden charges that add up fast. They charge $30 each way for carry on luggage. If you want to be sure of where you sit, another$ 10 per seat. Then to top it all, if you just want a drink of water. $3.- so ...add all these to your ticket price and see if there really is that much of a difference. Spirit IS a good choice if you are travelling last minute, I saved about $200.

The no frills a la carte saved the day for a quick flight to Chicago. Love the big seats option. Use on-line check-in to save money. Bring a good book to read as there is no entertainment system on board. Seats are a little tired but I saved over a $1000 by choosing Spirit and their red-eye service to Chicago

In order to leave on time, United decided to forgo loading up on food service on our flight. Which is fine, since it was only a 3 hour flight. But in order to compensate, they gave us a $50 voucher towards a future flight. The flight attendant quoted $200 at first, but $50 is pretty fair. I'm usually a Delta patron but I'd definitely fly with these folks again.

Overall a very good value for the money. No luxuries or special attention but effective transport. I do still miss the warm cloth of first class... Oh well

Service and arrival time were better than expected. My preference would have been to depart from Orange County/SNA airport to LAX though. Went with best pricing.

Since nowadays we have to thank God for small mercies we get as service on airlines, I was pleased with the free coffee (over and above the free couple of drinks) and the free headphones (American charges $2 for earphones). So overall the in flight service was good, even though as it was an older plane and had just a few screens in the aisles (not above the seats). Leading to the fact that I will have to watch Ironman 2 again just to know what happened in the top right corner of the screen.

We enjoyed the Boston Market sandwich on the flight to Los Angeles and didn't eat anything before leaving LA figuring we would eat on the plane coming to Chicago. WRONG!!!! Can you believe it that the airline packed only 10 sandwiches for a sold-out flight. I hope that they will plan better in the future.
