I only took this flight as it was the cheapest for a family of four.Next time I will pay the extra and travel in comfort. You have to pay for EVERY piece of checked luggage, and you are squashed together like sardines. The food was awful and they ran out quickly by the time they got to the back of the plane...and the stewardesses gave the impression that they were NOT enjoying their jobs (except for the male steward on the return flight who was very nice and had a sense of humor.)

Flight was delayed for 3 hours from departure city due to "waiting for attendants to arrive." They should have just said that due to a storm in GA, the flight carrying our attendants to continue back to GA were going to be late.

We left LAX at 2:00am, arriving in GA too late for our connection to BOS. They did have us booked on the next flight out at 9:55pm but "the pilot was delayed" so we sat around for another hour.

Needless to say, our redeye flight that we took so that we could spend one more day in BOS turned into a nightmare and we didn't get to our hotel until 3:30pm instead of the 10:30am that was expected!!

The initial portion of the trip was with United and I was able to upgrade our second leg, Denver to Boston, for more leg room. No option on American to do the same.

However, Your service is always great.

This was one of the best airplane rides ever. When you wanted something to drink you could order it from your seat. Lots of movies and tv to watch. Very nice staff. Great experience. This airline would always be my No. 1 choice.

Plane was very noisy, and only 2 lavoratories available for everyone in coach,(at least 180 people) no blankets, or ear phones for movie( unless you wanted to pay $2.00.) And round trip you pay $50.00 per bag. Not to mention $10.00 for a sandwich or salad. I was thankful for a free juice ...I guess we just have to stop traveling or pay more for less.

I would still rate Jet Blue as number one but only because they wisely decided to drop the ridiculous first checked bag fee. If Virgin America followed suit, they would have my vote as the best, then followed closely by Jet Blue.

I had high hopes for Virgin America. In spite of a few good friends who hated it, others were really pleased. I agree that the planes are new and shiny and offer space age food and entertainment options. The crew attitude seemed friendly. However, having been born with normal sized legs, I found there was almost nowhere to put them. I guess it depends on what's important, but to me JetBlue runs rings around Virgin America simply because there's an almost remarkable amount of leg room, even in the standard seats. (You can pay extra for seats with extra leg room. But save your money. Unless in play in the NBA, you wont need that extra room.) I fly LAX to BOS and back at least 6 times a year. JetBlue has continuously proven to be far and away the best choice for me.

I have never been on a flight that I enjoyed more. Virgin's economy class puts first call on other airlines to shame. It's like being at chic lounge in the ski. The in flight entertainment and food ordering options are far superior to any other airline.

Additionally, there business model is brilliant. They up-sell you on quite a few things, but you don't really feel like you're being up-sold because the up-sell options are so great. For instance, you can purchase the ability to watch nearly new (or maybe even still in theaters?) movies. You can order real meals, but the food is not the standard crappy traditional airline food we're all used to. So, you don't mind paying a few bucks more, etc...

Also, the freebies are really nice. For instance, you can preview all sorts of great music from your touch screen display and make a playlist for your seat throughout the flight.

For me, traveling with Virgin made my six hour flight feel more like a 2.5 hour flight. Pretty impressive. I think they put JetBlue (in my mind their nearest brand differentiator competitor) to shame. An truly enjoyable flying experience.
