Get to the airport early; you pick up seat assignments when you get there--not online.
Take a seat in the rear. Those passengers board first and there will be overhead space. We got Row 2 on the return; consequently we boarded last and the carry on bags had to be gate checked. In Little Rock they were sent to the baggage area, so that saved no time!
