On the return flight from Las Vegas to Dallas I had seat a seat in row 11 and thus was the last group to board the MD80. When I got to my seat there was no room in the overhead to put my carry-on suitcase.
my seatmate also had the same problem so we were told that we would need to carry thr bags out to the aircraft door. Which we did withour any assistance from the flight attendants. As the attendant was tagging my bag she started scolding me on the size of my bag and how they did they let me bring it on the plane. "this bag should have been checked it is too big to bring on the aircraft." This bag has been carried on aircraft from Delta to Alaska. It fits perfectly in the overhead of every major jet aircraft. I did not need the attendent to repeat her words of warning about my bag 3 times. She did not warn me that my bag would not be wating for me at the aircraft door in Dallas, but I would need to wait for it at the baggage claim area. The reason I carry that bag is to avoid baggage claim and to refrain from paying the silly baggage fee that should be included in the price of the ticket.
I felt like a misbehaving school child being scolded for not following some made up rule and certainly not at the aircraft door. This may be the reason I avoid flying American if at all possible.
