Very happy to get a nonstop flight that left at a decent (not too early) hour from KC. Our flight left at 9:30am Central time and arrived in SF at 11:30am Pacific time. Flight was on time with no issues.

On the ground at MCI: Flight departure was delayed about 2 hours due to SFO's usual slowdown in moist weather. Passengers were updated twice during that period and at one point personnel disappeared for ~ 30 minutes. Once the boarding process was to begin, we were informed that there was a plane change. Instead of seating 2-2 throughout, the first section of the plane was 1 and 2. That meant "B is now C, old C is now D, old D is now F". Talk about chaos. There was only one agent handling the boarding process until finally another person came to help. Unfortunately, he was not up on the new math, and so added more confusion until he got his ACDF straight.

Luggage storage: All the rows on the one seat side had overhead storage space for a gym bag, nothing more. There were only five (?) of these rows, but enough to make the last boarders hunt for luggage space. MIdwest boards from the back and many earlier passengers had placed their carry-ons in the section directly following the one-seat rows.

In flight: Great crew! The flight attendant working our section was wonderful -professional and friendly. She checked back often once the flight was en route, a nice change from the disappearing attendants of other airlines. The pilot kept us up-to-date on flight progress and he managed to make up much of the time from the delayed departure.

In sum: MCI crew needs to keep passengers updated, even if repeating what was said 30 minutes ago. Changing seat labels - ugh! - post it on your board, so people see it as well as hear it as they stand in line to board. Get another agent ASAP to avoid the chaos. And spell San Francisco correctly on your departure board.

Would I fly Midwest again? Maybe. The flight crew was very good. I like the non-stop flight. The chocolate chip cookies were yummy.

Pleasant flight crew...surprisingly, not a bad experience other than that we ended up here by having our non-stop Midwest flight cancelled.
