Our flight to NYC was the day before the merger. We were able to check our bags for free because we have a Continental credit card. We received a meal on the flight (as we always have). The service was fine. No problems except the flight attendants kept talking about "tomorrow" and the merger.

We returned 11 days later - after the merger. We still got our bags free, but I will bet that perk will be deleted soon. We did NOT get a free snack. If we wanted food, we were told we had to pay for it. NICE - not giving any notice.

The flight was OK otherwise, but we left very hungry!

The advertisements need to change. They say that we'll get the best of both airlines. Already, this is not true. I will bet that the following UNITED policies (which are worse than Continental) will be in place before we know it.

    1. No free meals or snacks in economy (already done)

    2. No free checked bags for credit card holders.

    3. Frequent flyer miles will expire (like United does now) and like Continental does NOT.

So, where is the best of both airlines?

***Check in was fine for both flights.

Seat comfort - as is expected with a full flight - shoulder to shoulder.

The patience, politeness, and persistancy of the boarding personnel kept all the passengers in order and made the flight arrived earlier than scheduled arrival time both ways.

No problems and no delays. Incredibly full flight (as is typical these days) including a few kid groups that were actually very well behaved.
