This fare only includes ...moreone small "personal item" carry-on that does not exceed 16x14x12 inches. Larger carry-on or checked baggage require an additional charge. To get this fare, you must also accept a Spirit assigned seat at check-in and print your boarding pass at home or at an airport kiosk. Choosing a specific seat or using a human airport agent requires additional charges. This fare includes Spirit.com's passenger usage fee and "unintended consequences of D.O.T. regulations fee." These fees range between $18-$38 and can be avoided by booking at an airport counter.

paid for extra legroom; very cramped; did not think i had an extra inch; never mind $79 worth of extra space

If it wasn't bad enough that our seat assignments got changed so that we were BOTH in the dreaded middle seats in the same row - Continental is so cheap that they don't even broadcast television shows for free so you have something to watch on your flight to distract you... when when my husband couldn't stand it any more and paid the $6 to watch television or movies - the only movies available were FIGHT CLUB or MR. & MRS. SMITH - so you PAY for movies and your choice is one that's more than 10 years old or one that's more than 5 years old... REALLY? - what a rip off.

Can't complain. On time, even on trip out, which was late in the day. There was a small meal served, which I didn't expect because I had heard Continental had stopped serving meals. Nothing fantastic, but enough to tide you over. And how else are you going to keep passengers quiet on a 4-hour flight?
Of course, with no plane changes and no checked bags, it was pretty straightforward.

Plane was packed with passengers bringing so much stuff on board to get around the checked baggage charges we were 30 mins late taking off. Crew had a hard time finding room for everything. My pet peeve is people sitting in row 26 stuffing their bags in row 6 seat overhead.
