Our Grand Rapids flight had mechanical difficulties and kept getting delayed. Three of us on it (our party of 2, plus another person) were trying to catch a connection in Detroit for Maine. At the last minute, Delta put the 3 of us in a taxi for Detroit (2.5 hours) and we caught the flight to Maine. Not sure they would have done it if I hadn't discovered the 3rd person in the same predicament. But they did do it and fortunately our 3 hour scheduled layover at Detroit gave us the time to make the road trip. A good save on Delta's part but I wish they hadn't left it to the last second.
