All of the bad feelings could have been avoided if they had cancelled the flight after 4 or 5 hours. I lived 1 1/2 hours from the airport so there was never enough time to go home and wait. I arrived at the airport in time for 11:45 am flight and was told the plane had mechanical problems and wouldnt be there until 2:30. Another passenger was told the plane was diverted for another flight. Around 3 pm we were told the plane would be there at 5:30 pm. Then we were told the plane in GR was waiting on the runway. Around 8:30 pm they said the plane returned to the terminal. Then due to weather they would leave at 10 pm so they could plow the runway. Then a few more delays and the plane would be here at midnight. They arrived at 1:15 am and the pilot said he had too many hours and cancelled the fligh-he had to know that before they left. Well there were no hotel rooms near the airport because of the Daytona 500, and no cars to rent. They made us take our checked bags with us. They found some rooms but wouldn't pay for transportation. Some passengers paid $40 to $62 each way. We were told we couldnt stay in the airport, and we had to get our bags and leave. Enought of us wanted to stay in the airport, they finally at 3 :30 AM agreed to keep the terminal open where we stayed until the next day at noon. We had to get new boarding passes and check our luggage again. We only got a $75 flight voucher.

When we arrive at the airport and saw the check-in line, we groaned. We had arrived plenty early due to holiday travel and new security screening procedures. Wow, check in moved along very quickly. Security took a little longer, but no hitches. The flight crew offered snacks and drinks frequently, but these were not complimentary. Soft drinks were $2. I don't remember what snacks cost. But we were prepared, carrying our own snacks and water aboard. The seats did not recline, but had way more legroom than one finds with major airlines, even intercontinental flights.

The woman at the gate was over-controlling and overbearing, or according to most passengers comments" "a real b". She over explained everything, as if we were her kindergarten class, and harassed passengers for such things as not removing ticket stubs as instructed, or she made some passengers stand to the side if one of a couple had more than two bags ie. computer and camera bag. Everyone complained about her. She needs to understand that we are patrons/customers not prisoners. It was the only downside of an otherwise enjoyable trip. The flight attendants and pilots on board were courteous and attentive. Robert Holland
