Very RUDE staff; very Costly...horrible customer service! I was flying with my 2 yr old son and their airplane had mechanical difficulties; they set us out like wild hogs to claim luggage and first come first serve for a seat on the next flight. When that wasn’t going to happen for some of us (the elderly and those that had little children), they wanted to put us in a taxi and drive 2 1/2 hours at 11pm to another airport to catch another flight at 4am (which who knows what we were going to encounter there with their old planes!). Either that -or wait until 10am at the airport to catch their next flight out. I vehemently opposed and they finally gave in, putting us in the next flight out with another carrier (jet blue) at 4 am...Mind you, they DID NOT do this for the rest of the patrons (the jet blue flight was empty, we got to sleep at 3 seats per person) and we had to “sleep” on the airport floor (yes with my 2yr old) because all the hotel rooms in the SanJuan metropolitan area were full (yeah right)...they wanted me to do their homework and continue calling other hotels to see if they had availability—even if I would have found the room, they disappeared to the back, nowhere to be found so I wouldn’t have gotten the reservation taken care of anyway. They were so rude and unprofessional that NEVER AGAIN will we fly Spirit. I also have their credit card which is the next relationship I am canceling with them. I don’t want any ties with SPIRIT AIRLINES and will gladly pay full price at any other airline before flying with them again. PS...they made me pay extra for luggage (about 80 bucks for 7 pounds). Money that I never got back...I STRONGLY advise you not to fly with Spirit Airlines. I remember a time when flying was a total and wonderful experience...you dressed up, we had beautiful stewardess that treated you like a king/queen. And if you were a child, you even earned your plastic wings :). Spirit Airlines is a far cry of what flying used to be and the saddest part is that they are a far cry of the respect flying (paying) customers deserve.
