The flight crews were friendly, upbeat and entertaining. They even provided us with a couple of songs! Very enjoyable. I know not having seat assignments is not for everyone, however it is definately my preference.

Plane was dirty, condensation was dripping on me while we sat on the runway for 30 minutes, and flight attendants could have been friendlier. Basically I felt like I was on a bus in the air! Luckily it went much faster than a bus.

If you want rude, insensitive people who don't care that they seat a 6 year old by themselves away from the family ( 5 travelers, 5 different rows)then this is your airline. When asked if they could do something about it the response was " NO...You should have checked in earlier if you wanted to sit together". Silly me, I thought checking in 3 hours prior to departure was enough. You might get a slightly cheaper rate but bring your own blanket and pillow. Customer service or caring of any kind has been removed from the Air Tran training manual if one still exists.

Everything from start to finish was excellent about this flight. We were grounded in Philadelphia due to weather conditions but the crew allowed us to leave the aircraft and did everything they could to make it as pleasant as possible.

The only cheap deal with this airline is the service and planes.
EARLY? Yes we were,arrived in Pitt 20 mins early but...had to sit on the tarmac for 30 mins to wait for the 1 jet to move,and if you fly to PIT you know its such a busy airport,yeah right,all the gates around Air Tran were empty,so actually we were 10 mins late.
No deal here.

I've taken Air Tran from Fort Lauderdale to Pgh and back, several times. Every time, they have been late for various reasons.
In one case they had only one check-in person working in Pgh, for 3 flights, and even though I and many others were in line more than 90 minutes early, they were so slow we all missed the flight! In that case, a direct to FLL flight turned into a one-stop trip that totaled 8 hours.
On another return to FLL flight, they were so late leaving the gate they missed their takeoff turn, then we sat on the runway in Pgh for 2 hours after which they announced they had missed their slot in FLL, so we had to stay in motels overnight and go the next day on standby.
Each time I have had no choice but to use them, it also appears that they are so sparingly staffed, I wonder at the safety of the planes.

I was on this flight on April 30. We were already in the air at the time when we were supposed to be pushing back from the gate and we arrived in Pittsburgh almost 30 minutes early. Considering that this was a 7:48 PM flight, I was shocked to actually arrive at my destination early.
