The Fort Lauderdale airport was packed. Traffic to the airport was heavy, but moved well. Car rental return was quick and moved swiftly.
The bus from the car rental to the terminal was faster than anticipated.
Their was a lady directing passengers to the fastest moving line. Check-in was straight forward and brief. We then moved to the security line which was sizable with a few delays. Once through that check-in, we moved through a throng of people at the Spirit Airline terminal.
The day had high winds, rain and some lightening. Not surprisingly, most flights had delays. Our trip was on a turn-around flight which was late landing in Ft. Lauderdale. When it arrived, it was unloaded and we began loading shortly afterward.
After our flight was loaded, one of the Flight Stewards went through the customary procedures for safety, regulations and explanation should there be a drop in cabin pressure. She added a little humor by mis-quoting a competitive airline's TV ad.
We finally took off about 40 minutes behind schedule. The take-off and climbing had some jostling, but had only a few incidents of bumping once we reached our flight altitude.
Cabin service was somewhat slow as the two attendants meandered through the rear of the plane. Once the final passenger was served, the attendants seemed to disappear until the pilot announced we were about to begin our decent.
One slow and one rapid pass for trash was followed by our preparation to land. At this point, the flight took several large jolts due to the weather.
We landed with a strong thud that jarred me, but the plane never seemed out of control. We taxied quickly from the tar-mack to the terminal. Once the doors were opened, the deplaning was fast. Fortunately, our flight which took off 40 minutes late was only 20 minutes late on arrival. That certainly mad the time more acceptable.
