I reserved a round-trip from PTY to FLL last April, with the out-going flight in May and the return late in October. Since I booked before the "carry-on fee", I was able to pay only $23 each way for checked baggage. When I checked in, the agent tried to tell me I needed a "return" ticket, since I was leaving from the US. Wrong! I had a round-trip ticket and was returning to Panama, despite the fact that I'm a US citizen and was flying from the US to Panama. (The round-trip requirement is a Spirit invention; Panama does NOT require it.) The Spirit supervisor agreed with me and the agent apologized.

Being a $9 Club member, I was able to board with the first group and had lots of overhead room for my carry-on. The plane left promptly, the attendants were efficient and friendly (tho they didn't enforce the "seats forward for take-off" rule). My seat didn't recline--broken--but I could have moved to another seat as the flight was only about 2/3ds full. The flight arrived on time. All-in-all, a satisfactory experience.
