When checking in in Fargo, I learned that my one bag was 8 #'s overweight. The very nice United people in Fargo suggested that I buy a small bag at the gift shop and pay $30 for the extra bag instead of the $125 for overweight bag. I did that. When I got to Boston, my $30 bag was not there. I was told that it would be on the next flight and that they would send it on to Nantucket for me. I took a bus to Hyannis and then flew over to Nantucket from there. United promised that they would send my bag over by Cape Air. My experience with calling the "lost baggage" number was ridiculous. Each time I called I got someone else - one from India, twice from Phillipines, etc. My bag(the one I paid $30 extra for) finally got to Nantucket on Tuesday (3 days later.) United people were not much help (language barrier) but the Cape Air personnel in Nantucket were excellent. She went way out of her way to try to locate my bag. When United was telling me that Cape Air must have lost it, Cape Air was calling Boston to try to find out where my bag was. The United people called to tell me that my bag was on the "next flight" twice. Each time I went to the airport only to find out that it wasn't there. In United's defense, they refunded my $30 that I was charged.
