We took Spirit Airlines to Myrtle Beach. It was our first flight. When checked in, I overheard someone say sarcastically, "we are flying Spirit" as if it was not a reputable airline. The flight to NY was delayed because something needed defrosting. We could hear the maintenance people working on the jet. It was scary. The second flight was ridiculously loud. There was a loud flapping noise that made the passengers very anxious. It stopped once we got into the air but I was very nervous. We made it safe and I enjoyed flying. We took a different airline home. It was slightly more expensive but we didn't have any of the problems we had on Spirit. If we flown in the reverse order, I would have been paranoid flying Spirit. They really need to upgrade their freight.

We have flown Spirit To Myrtle Beach numerous times, but, it seems with every flight it becomes more trying. The price was good, even with the $25 per bag fee, but this last time, the check-in lines were so long, we almost missed the flight, despite arriving three hours ahead. We were exhausted from standing in line in front of a 3-yr. old who screamed for almost an hour. The leg room in-flight was non-existant- Beware those with circulation problems! The flight attendants were aloof. All & all, you have to ask yourself, if you're physically & mentally up to it.

It's a shame that you don't even get a soft drink or coffee anymore on a Spirit Airlines flight. But, at least it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to fly anywhere on this airline! Guess the trade-off is worth it!

Delta is doing much better. After flying Northwest for YEARS, I found the transition between the two carriers a very trying time. Service was way, way down. Staff was in poor spirits and very snappy to customers. I think there loyal flyers should have received DOUBLE miles for flights taken from 04-01-09 till 06-01-10 for all the crap we had to put up with. But it was good to get friendly service. But, candy, crackers and apples for First Class. How about cheese, crackers and fruit for a First Class snack.

I will say that they kept us up to speed on what was happening but was concerned cause they told us the other departing flights were full. They evidently got the part they need and fixed it Yeah

When my husband was looking for a cheap flight to Chicago from Detroit for a Labor Day trip, he stumbled upon a cheap flight to Myrtle Beach on Spirit. After adding all the fees he checked Delta and found the same and even better flight times for $10 more. I'll pay that for better service by their employees. We have flown Spirit to Ft. Lauderdale and found the attendents very rude and lazy. One attendent yelled make sure you take your papers, I'm not your momma and picking up after you. This wasn't a joke because she yelled at the guy in front of us, "take your paper, I'm not cleaning up after you". We were appalled. Delta was great!!! Attendents very curtious. Thanks Delta

It started leaving detroit to myrtle beach, your received with an unfriendly airline stewardess. Then you are told once you arrive in the air craft could you please check your bags we are short space for the amount of travelers we have today. (shouldn't the aircraft be able to handle one carry on luggage per passenger?) I could just ramble on and on...........

unbelievably long wait to check in. The check in person was rude and curt. Crew was non accomodating. Many people missed their flight because they had 2 people checking in and they closed the counter 45 mins before, as these two had to go load the luggage and help with boarding the flight! You will have to be in line at least 2 hrs. prior to make it to the desk - despite doing online check in etc. I called them - MEAN SPIRIT airline for a reason!

This was a terrible experience. Spirit recommends that you use the on-line check in process and pre-pay for baggage which we did. Upon arrival at the airport, we waited in line for over an hour as there is NO skycap service for passengers flying Spirit Air. About half of the passengers did not make the flight due to this long process. VERY DISSATISFIED with Spirit Air out of Detroit Metro Airport! Myrtle Beach return flight was delayed for over 4 hours and we never received an email update stating the delay....arrived home at 430 a.m. after getting to the airport at 6 pm to fly home. VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMER service! The flight may have been cheaper, however my time is worth more than the slight savings they offered. It will be a LONG time before I use Spirit again for my future travel plans.

Check in and security moved smoothly and quickly. Had a layover in LAG. Always issues when I have a tranfer or lay over there. Gates were changed w/o accurate notice. Over heard other passengers commenting about the switch and that is the only way I knew. About 5 min later the announcement came over the speaker after travelers complained about not knowing.
