I use this bargain basement airline regularly. Overall, I can deal with the delays, dirtiness, and discomfort cuz it means I get to travel a lot at a 10th of the price of the GOOD airline companies. With the Fare Club/Mastercard policy I can fly to Florida to see my elderly parents every three months for $5. This August, my three day vacation in Boston was reduced to two days because of airplane issues. Spent the whole first day trapped in Atlantic City airport---which is truely airport hell. For ruining 30% of my vacation I got a $50 voucher to use on a future flight. You get what you pay for, right?

I have heard horror stories about flying Southwest, but I had the most excellent experience going to Boston. There was only a 30 minute delay because of a freak storm..and we still arrived on time, even with the short layover and they dont charge you per bag.
It was great. I would definitely recommend using this site for fares and all air travel.

I am so surprised that Spirit offers nothing anymore for free except a very tiny bag of pretzels. My friends flew other airlines and they received complimentary coffee or water. I will admit that the carry on fee for Spirit has speeded up boarding and de-planing.

The 7:30 am flight was initially delayed until 9:00 am and then the flight was moved up to 8:00 am. However, the flight crew was unable to be reached and didn't arrive until 9:00 am after all. After we boarded the plane an air exchanger was missing and we had to wait another half an hour in the sweltering heat before one was located. The flight was fine once we finally took off.

The original return flight was cancelled 2 hours after scheduled take-off due to mechanical problems. We had to piece together multiple flights on 2 airlines to get to our airport of origin. Flight number 2 (different airline) was delayed 1.5 hours due to mechanical problems. When we finally got to the runway for take-off we were turned back to the terminal due to bad weather and closed air space in one of the areas we were to fly over (Cleveland). Our Boston-Detroit 'direct flight'took 12 hours. Amazingly, our bag made it!

Miss the Spirit Airlines flights From DTW to Logan. Legal Seafood made the wait for the flight bearable. Delta is the only non stop flight to Boston, no competition higher fares!!!! Northwest planes accommodated carry on luggage better than the Delta planes-bins were deeper. This is the first time in four years that I have had to check baggage, was surprised that it was already available for pickup in the baggage claim area+++++

Had to wait for the pilot to arrrive from another flight before we could take off.Waiting time of 55 minutes.
