On our way to Charlotte, everything was ok- not good, not bad. On our return flight back to Denver, we had a layover in MSP. When we arrived at our gate expecting to see a line of people boarding the plane, that was not the case. Everyone was sitting around and no announcements had been made. By the time our flight was supposed to be taking off, there was no news of why we were not boarding/leaving. My husband asked customer service what was going on and they did not know why we weren't getting on the plane (it was right there!). Ten minutes later, an announcement was made that we would have to wait for another plane that would be available. So we waited another 3 hours (after having almost a 2 hour layover). I am happy that we did not get on the first plane but we were only offered a few meek apologies for this inconvenience. A free movie would have been nice (this is something Delta has done in the past when a flight we were on was delayed). I don't care about the movie; it's the gesture. When we landed in Denver, we had to wait over an hour for our bags. We also heard of four other Delta flights being delayed while on our trip. Then I remembered the time they lost my bag. Then my husband's parents started telling us all of their problems with Delta. Next time we will pay the extra $30 for another airline.

Late departure out of Denver due to USAirways flying home a fallen marine. The airlines handled this with the respect due. Upon landing in Charlotte, we were informed by a flight attendant that our flight was returning home a fallen marine and his sargent. They asked that we stay in our seats while the sargent exited the plane first. Most of the passengers appauled. Then the flagged draped casket was escorted off the plane with military honors. The plane was completely quiet. Even though, passengers had connections, etc. everyone sat completely still as the family and hearst received the casket. It was a flight I will never forget and one I respect USAirways for.

Besides the sadness, the plane was a new A321 complete with WIFI and seemed like larger seats and more legroom.

Southwest is always an excellent experience, we have never had a bad flight with them and the extra bonus of no extra cost for luggage makes the experience even better. I feel that all of the other airlines should go back to the no extra cost for luggage, after all the fuel prices have gone back down so what is their excuse now?
