My daughter had flown from Rome-Chicago-DFW and was to connect to IAH and home on AA 470, scheduled to depart at 8:00 pm. Due to thunderstorms many flights were delayed. AA decided to CANCEL this flight, the last flight of the day, BEFORE the departure time. They claimed "weather", therefore no assistance with food, hotel, transportation, nada.
Interestingly enough, Continental's 7:00 pm flight was also weather delayed, but I was able to purchase a seat on that flight. Yes, it arrived into Houston quite late....but it arrived - wasn't CANCELED, like American's similar flight.
AMERICAN WAS NO HELP TO MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER TRAVELING ALONE, AFTER A LONG SERIES OF FLIGHTS. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS AIRLINE DUE TO LACK OF COURTESY OR COMMON SENSE.
