Stingy with the cola and snacks was the good part. I reserved this flight about three months ahead of time. I had an assigned seat through the stop in Atlanta, and we were supposed to continue on the same plane to Sarasota.
However, while taxiing to the terminal in Atlanta they asked those of us who weren't making a connection in Atlanta to remain seated as we were late due to bad weather which we never saw.
However, after all the people who claimed to have to make a connection in Atlanta retrieved their carry-on luggage and were lined up to leave the plane they announced that those passengers who were continuing to Sarasota would have to change planes.
However, they didn't know which gate we needed to go to. Of course, everyone on the plan except us was lined up and prepared to deplane. We got off last.
The small departure screens in Atlanta did not mention a Delta flight departing for Sarasota. An airport employee told me to walk about 100 yards to a large display which might show the Delta flight to Atlanta. At that display I found my flight was already boarding at gate A01 when I got off the first plane.
I raced to the gate and was the last passenger to board, soaked in sweat and panting from my long run. After I had found a seat (not the seat I had reserved) the flight attendants announced there would be a delay because the passenger count didn’t agree with what they expected. That was probably because of me. When I arrived at the gate there were no Delta employees present, and I boarded without showing my ticket, ID, or boarding pass to anyone. Scary!!
