After years of hearing about how great British Airways is, I was excited to take the ORD to LHR route. Unfortunately, BA is not half the airline that everyone makes it out to be. The plane was old and had a dirty feel to it. The cabin crew was nothing exceptional--took me 15 minutes to get a customs form. Finally, my in seat television did not work on the way to and from London. Overall, I would not recommend British Airways because of their dilapidated planes.

American staff was helpful and courteous and helped reroute me when my return flight was canceled.

On my return flight, several passengers who were traveling together had too much to drink. They stood in a clump hovering and leaning over the seats of other passengers and talked quite loudly for at least an hour. To their credit, they were at least sociable.

Passengers should be limited to the number of drinks they can purchase, and flight attendants should recognize when passengers are making a nuisance of themselves. At long last, the seat belt sign came on, and the clump of drinkers went to their seats.

The true question - would I fly with American again? Yes.

Our American flight was excellent, we even arrived early at 10:30PM. However, we were forced to circle as other planes were delayed at Heathrow. Unfortunately Customs did not staff well and we had over a 2 hour wait to check through. The UK/EU side was fast but not for non-residents. Finally they added more agents to our side.

Our trip over was excellent - good food, good service, good movies. I would rate the flight an "excellent" in all respects. However, the trip back to the US was just not up to the standard of the trip over. The food was OK, but not as good as on the way over; the flight attendant was a bit on the brisk side; and the movie selection was really below par. Still, we expected a very good flight experience with BA, and we got what we expected for the most part.
