I fly this route all the time. I usually fly US Airways (I live in a hub) with one stop but flew Delta this time. The main thing to remember with this route is that overhead bin space, for some reason, is often tight. Also, connection times, particularly in Phoenix (PHX) are really tight.....like 30 minutes. So choose your seat carefully because if you're stuck in the back of the bus with a tight connection and you're even a few minutes late you might miss your flight. Re: carry-on bags and those overhead bins, I often lag behind on purpose just so I can gate check my carry-on bag when the bins fill up. Attendants are getting better about making sure back-of-the-plane passengers don't fill up the forward bins. That said, if you see someone doing that SPEAK UP or the back bins will remain empty-ish and will be filled by forward-cabin passengers and the forward bins will be overfull and then when we're all deplaning there's a mess. Other than that, I haven't noticed the seats getting any worse than they usually are. Bring food. Always bring food unless you want to pay $7.00 and up (cash only) for a candy bar and baby carrots.

The seats are getting smaller. My seat would not tilt back at all. The guy in the seat in front of, his seat tilted too far back. He was in my face sleeping the first leg of my trip home. When I finally got his attention, we were 30 min from touch down.

I did not complain to any one. I think seats should be checked before flight to make sure they are in working order.

I will fly again with this same airline. Over all the trip was worth taking. Thank you for asking.

    1 stop in Chicago, Illinois
    Date of Flight:
    August 2010

I was in the middle seat in the Economy Class on a Boeing 757, and it was tight, despite the fact that a very petite young lady was in the window seat, and an average more senior person was on the aisle.

Turns out the overhead baggage bins were full and one item needed to be under the seat. That was the rub, the duffel styled bag underneath the seats made the flight tight and uncomfortable. Added to that a 100 mph headwind, and the trip from Chicago to Sacramento was unbearably long at 4 hours, and twenty minutes. Clearly, I needed more room and a shorter flight.

The return flight on the Airbus 321 was much easier to deal with having stowed the duffel in the overhead compartment.

The last thing that was somewhat annoying was the absence of food being served...well everything costs these days, so....

I'd do it again, but suck it up and pay the checked bag fees.

    Oh well.
