I fly this route on a regular basis, 2 or 3 times a month, and I couldn't enjoy the service provided by Air Canada more. The E-90 (my favourite plane) is new and ALWAYS clean (unlike the dirty, smelly old 737's WestJet flies). The E-90 seat is VERY comfortable and the attendants do what they can to make it a most enjoyable flight. The fresh baked cookies were a nice little touch as was the Earl Grey tea. I am an Air Canada fan, I know many aren't, but the ratio of good flights to troublesome is outstandingly low. A+++ rating from me to Air Canada...

The Air Canada website did not make it clear that if you are flying internationally, their kiosks cannot help you. Once we FINALLY got someone to help us with the kiosks, we found out that we needed to stand in a very long line to check in. As the time got closer to our boarding time, and the line wasn't moving, we spoke with several Air Canada staff members. They assured us flights would be called out, or that we would be fine. One offered to find us a check-in agent, then never returned. When it was time to board our flight and we were still in line, we approached a check-in agent directly, who panicked and put us through so quickly there wasn't even time to weigh our luggage! We weren't sure if we would make the flight, let alone our luggage!

Then we got to our first lay-over in Edmonton. We were told in Calgary that we would need to retreive our bags to clear customs. Of course there was no one to ask when we disembarked the plane. After waiting for luggage that never came, we found out that we should have gone through with other connecting passengers, where they had pictures our of luggage waiting for identification (I have never experienced clearing customs in that way, and have flown internationally at least once per year for many years). Once we finally got that straightened out, we cleared customs and security only to be advised that our flight to Denver was delayed by 2 hours. We were uncertain whether we would make our connecting flight in Denver on to Phoenix. By the way, Edmonton airport can advertise that it is improved all it wants, but it is severely lacking in comfort and amenities compared to Calgary. When we landed in Denver, we literally ran the entire length of the B terminal to our next gate, only to find that our connecting flight to Phoenix had also been delayed by an hour and a half. But no signs in the airport indicated the delay. All in all, this was the worst flight I have ever been on. It will be a cold day in hell before I will book with Air Canada again. Our return flight on Westjet had absolutely NO complications.
