Even though United Airlines was warned by me via e-mail when I purchased my tickets six months in advance and at check-in that I would need assistance propelling my mom's wheelchair from one gate to another, United Airlines personnel scrambled at the last minute to make our fast connection in Phoenix and offered no assistance at my final destination in Dallas. I was loaded like a pack mule with my mom's, dad's, and my luggage. United Airlines staff acted surprised and put-out when I re-requested assistance pushing my mom's wheelchair from one to gate to another. Not the best communication system. It made for a very stressful experience. I will definitely check for a rating of airline service before I travel with my elderly parents again. At our departure in Bozeman, we were assisted onto the plane after over half the plane had boarded. One passenger remarked that she was used to seeing passengers in wheelchairs boarded before economy passengers. "But that would make too much sense," I said. Yes, we were forgotten. Happy 50th Anniversary, Mom and Dad. My parents thanked me for the trip to Yellowstone when we got home, but asked that I not do it again. What an unfortunate choice!
