We fly this route pretty often for both work and personal visits, the overall experience so much superior to United that I only worry seats will become hard to get, as I don't think they plan to expand in Boston (JetBlue dominates, but their itineraries aren't great.) Planes are new and clean, seats really good in coach w/more room than UAL, fab entertainment/ordering system, ground and flight crews great, arrivals on time. Boston gate area is cozy (!) and needs an espresso stand, but security line tiny and quick. Returning, it's a long walk to isolated carousel if you check bags. At SFO VA is now in the spiffy Terminal 2, great facility but a looong security line for our 7:35 am flight - probably all the AA passengers who use the same terminal. Online check-in a bit cumbersome compared w/others. Still, it will be our choice for the foreseeable future, esp after UAL miles used up.

Flying cross country does not afford the traveler any more amenities than a shuttle flight lasting 45 minutes. Even though my flight from Boston to SF is longer than a Boston - London flight, the international flight gets better treatment. Luckily, I was able to buy an upgraded economy seat which offered me a better seat selection and more leg room. United's Customer Service desk in SF after security was an embarrassment from a service perspective. Only one agent who was dealing with an obvious problem. The waiting line continued to grow when another agent finally appeared. Unfortunately, the first agent then went on break, oblivious to the long line waiting for "customer service" which wasn't available that day. Luckily, the agent at the gate was far more service oriented and I bought my upgrade there.

My 45 min plane taking me from San Fran to Burbank, (flew Boston to San Fran 6hrs) arrived right in front of me and only 10min late. Within 10 min all flights from San Fran to Burbank cancelled do to imclement weather. Had to find a hotel and stay overnight till next avail flight in the am to Burbank was available. Very costly and inconvenint. When next morning flight from San Fran to Burbank full w/every day business people tells me this happens all of the time between San Fran and Burbank due to high winds low clouds. The airlines could avoid my frustration from travelers if they posted this as a warning on their booking sites and offered alternate routes with less cancellations and delays., ie, LA etc.

Flight was about an hour and a half late leaving, because the crew was on route from Florida and got a late start. They kept saying they were on the way and would be there any minute, as the wait dragged on and on. Once the flight was underway we got free movies and extra snacks, as they were trying to be nice. The flight wasn't very full, so there was a lot of space. Seats were cushy, although I couldn't get mine to recline, and since it was so late I was very tired.

Virgin's great -- I love the exclusive security check out of Logan Airport and the friendly service they consistently provide, however, I had the unfortunate seat in front of 2 of the most out of control little girls on my last flight across the country. I had a lot of work to do, which was good—had I wanted to snooze the 6 hours of consistent kicking to the back of my seat and outrageous shrieking would have made that an impossibility. The mother was on her own and I felt for her and while it's not the airline's job, I wish they would have done something for the poor suckers in the surrounding area. That's 12 customers that had to suffer for 6 hour flight from Boston to San Francisco.

Virgin was offering the best fares when we were looking for them and we were excited that we got such a good fare. But..everything from checked bags, to the WiFi we were supposed to have, came with a hefty charge! Otherwise all employees were friendly and the airplanes were very nice.

Outgoing flight (BOS to SLC) on Delta Boeing 757 (I think): Seating, 6 across (3x3), felt REALLY cramped, narrower than usual, and closer together. (I'm pretty small, 5'2", and can usually sit Indian-style; this time my knees nearly touched the seat in front and my hips brushed the arm rests.) Return flight (SFO to ATL) on Delta Boeing 767 (I think) was sooo much better: Seating, 7 across (2x3x2), felt luxurious by comparison. Will def seek out that seating config for xcountry trips in future.

Pretty smooth trip for a packed flight with minimal legroom. Still galled at having to pay for a checked bag. Left on time, 6 plus hours wasn't torture but arrived 10 minutes early. Granted Sunday summer good weather.

Enjoyed my first trip with Virgin America. The TV worked well, service was fine, but on a cross-country flight I would have liked an additional offer of a beverage or snack. Got a great deal ($100/one way) by following them on Twitter! (virginamerica is their twitter name)

Very little legroom and aisles, in dire need of updates. While the flight attendants were pleasant, when they say that the plane is held together with duct tape, and pretty much looked like it was, it gives you something to ponder.

I definitely got a great price on a RT flight from Boston to S.F. I was attending a family wedding in June, bought my ticket in JANUARY for a KILLER price. Thrilled. Selected our seats (sister & I went)but what a waste. EVERY connecting flight to and from we were delegated to back row seats, middle seats, definitely seats we did not choose. My friends IN the airline business say that those buying their seats through sites like Airfare Watchdog etc., and not through airlines direct, get the leftover seats. Giving the better seats (seats closest to exit, window, aisle, etc.) to HIGHER paying individuals. That's BS. What's the point with choosing a seat? Is it my fault I bought in advance because I plan? Delta airlines is o.k. but they have much less room on board their flights than other airlines (I fly all the time and everywhere with every airline imaginable), and they were delayed at every point during our flight. But nothing major.

Everything went great, ontime, courteous staff. I did find on both flights that there wasn't much leg room. I also would like to have had a TV on the back of the seats as some airlines do, or at least a movie shown inflight. It definitely makes the time go by faster.

5 hour delay due to mechanical problem. When we finally took off, the crew was unapologetic. They offered free earphones, but food still cost those ridiculous prices. Afterward, American gave us 4000 free miles, but it will be a long time before I fly again. And I have enough miles for a free one!

The at-seat entertainment is the best going; unforunately for me, the seats I was in on both flights did not afford as much leg room and seat comfort as JetBlue's...Virgin's music/entertainment/food ordering system is excellent;staff was cordial and pleasant; I am 6'2" and was quite uncomfortable; my wife, 5'7" had no problems...would fly VA again...

after a 6 hour flight from london and a 6 hour layover in boston, we had a flight on American. As the guy walked down the aisle, towards our seats, I knew that this huge man was the window seat and sure enough - good thing he was nice! I swear American had us flying as slow as possible to conserve fuel. no more economy flights. life is too short! no more American flights either.

The check-in person was the best! He noticed that my husband and I were not sitting together and volunteered to move us to seats with an empty seat between. Made us LOVE Virgin America. Seats were much more comfortable than most Economy seats (only Jet Blue's are slightly better. Food was so-so but better than most of the other airlines. In flight entertainment options very good.

I've heard about Jetblue being great for years but I had not flown them until this flight. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was disappointed. Check in via the internet and the machines at the airport didn't work for me, so I had to wait for the rep to help me. We left on time, which was great, but then drink service was ridiculously slow and only came through once. No food was available at all, not even for purchase, even though the flight was over 5 hours. The seats were so-so. The best thing was that we arrived on time and our bags came out super quickly. All in all, an average flight.

Traveling with a one year old is always challenging. United's 757 not having a changing table in the lavatory didn't help. Balancing a screeching and upset baby on a convex toilet seat wasn't as much fun as you might expect.

This was my second flight in month to SFO from Boston via Virgin America. I love flying them from Boston to SFO. In Boston, they have their own security line, so it's always a breeze. There's a little coffee stand next to the gate as well. In SFO, you fly into the international area, but getting in and out is easy. The planes are great, with mood lighting and the works and the power outlets are AWESOME. The only two issues I had were the GoGo inflight was spotty and the food/movies expensive. But, overall, I'll fly them again next time I go to SFO.
