Even though we have a Continental credit card and booked our flight through Continental, we were on United for our trip from Boston to Honolulu. United would NOT honor our credit card that allows one free bag each! We were charged $25 each for our 2 bags. When we asked why this situation was happening despite our Continental booking we were summarily told that the merger was still not finalized. It is NOT our problem that they hadn't finalized the merger or worked out issues such as our baggage one. On our flight home, we were on Continental and had no baggage fee. Amazing!

“Continental is only airline to offer free meals in economy on this route”

Continental recently changed their meal offerings to only offer free meals to economy on flights longer than 6 hours, so I am not sure if this still applies... but when I flew BOS-SFO-HNL in May 2009, Continental was the only airline to offer free meals in economy class. On a flight this long, you are bound to get hungry, and you should factor the cost of meals into your total flight cost. Continental was the same price as United, but I got two free meals and a snack each way. When factoring in the cost of food, Continental was definitely the better bargain!
