Allegiant Air in northwest washington has been a discount airline who provides no-frill flights to select usa cities.
We travellers that use this type of airline is because we simply need to get from point a-b and don't want to pay for low value frills that come at a high cost such as the "dreaded airline meal" etc.
But, like always, once something becomes successful the provider of these services generally start to get a little fat and start increasing either flight fees, baggage fees or both. Allegiant is guilty of this.
What used to be a value airline now feels like it's not a lot different from the other mainstream airlines. Their significantly increased baggage/flight fees over the past year has made them far less attractive.
I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada and the drive between Vancouver and Bellingham, Wa is minimal so I generally travel out of Bellingham. Why? Because as usual, the Canadian Airline operators are worse and always want to hit the "home run" as far as fees go so we travel across the line...
I hope I haven't rambled too long. Just my $.02 cents worth... that you asked for.

I found the additional baggage charge, $25.00 per bag, a disappointment, as we did not know ahead of time. The delay of ticketing the baggage at PSP caused us to almost miss the flight. Pilot held the plane 15 minutes just for us. We were at the airport before 5:00 am for a 6am flight AC 4127, to San Fran and on to Vanc. and, due to baggage ticketing problem, we were last to board plane. The pink ribbon info is interesting. Flights are most often great.

Our carring on bags fit in the check stand in Bellingham, but not in the check stand in Palm Springs. Consequently our airfare went up by $70 US on the return trip. Other peoples bags which seemed larger were being ignored at the boarding gate only because they had a pink ribbon on them which indicated they had already been checked somewhere according to the service rep at the gate.Had I known to bring a pink ribbon with me I could have put one on my bag also. Lesson learned, put a pink ribbon on your carry on and it won't be checked.
