Were supposed to take off at 7 am - delayed til 8, then 9, then 10 - gate attendant told us that someone had left lights on in plane and the batteries had died. (Really?) She said at 8am that the mechanics had not left DC yet to bring new batteries (again really? - no backups at an INTERNATIONAL airport?) and that she could get us to DCA to catch a 2PM flight! She said she highly recommended we change as it will take a couple more hours and then the original plane would prob be used for a different flight. On road to DCA, received a text that BWI flight was delayed til 11 so we thought we made right choice. Got to DCA and thru security by 9:45 and got text that BWI flight was departing at 10am!! There was an 11 am flight from DCA but it was overbooked by 8 ppl! So had to wait w 12 y.o. niece who was very leary of flying until 2:00 flight! Wasted a whole day of the trip waiting in airports as we should have been in CVG by 8:30 and didn't arrive until 3:40pm!!
